About Kominka Breeder
Our dogs are raised on a spacious traditional farmhouse estate in the ancient city of Nara.
As the successor to the renowned Kennel Shirai of Kanagawa Prefecture,
we carry on Shirai's philosophy and bloodline.
Shirai's philosophy is to seek wabi-sabi in Japanese dogs —
a timeless, classic beauty with soulful, innocent eyes that evoke a quiet nostalgia.
These are not the instantly striking "Disney-style" faces you may be used to,
but spend a little time with them and a pure, unique charm reveals itself.
We warmly invite you to visit us in person.
All puppies available from us carry this bloodline, and are direct descendants of dogs registered with the Nihonken Hozonkai (Japanese Dog Preservation Society). As a Shiba Inu specialist kennel, we often have multiple puppies available at once — far more than a typical pet shop.
How We Raise Our Dogs
Our dogs are raised freely and happily, with gentle discipline as needed. We prepare home-cooked meals every day to support healthy growth.
Health Care
Each puppy receives a full veterinary health check — including a stool examination — just before going to their new home. A dated health report is provided. If any health issue is found, we resolve it before the handover (medical costs covered by us).
